Bed wetting is usually caused by an urinary system that is underdeveloped causing urine to be expelled during the night when the child is in asleep. This issue is a lot more common than most parents realize. That fact doesn’t make it any less frustrating for the parent or less embarrassing for the child.

Bed wetting is frustrating for parents because changing wet sheets in the middle of the night is not a fun thing to do, especially when it happens almost every night . It’s very embarrassing for the child, and often prevents them from wanting to spend the night at friend’s house.

Don’t get upset with your child when they wet the bed, do not punish them! Your child will already be feeling self-conscious, and embarrassed about it, reassure them and tell them that you love them. Help them understand its not their fault. This is very important for your child’s development.

Here are Some good tips to use to help your child’s bed wetting problems:

Have your child drink the majority of their liquids during the morning/day.

Limit the amount of liquids early in the evening.

Make sure that your child goes to the bathroom right before bed.

Limit caffeine. especially in the evenings.

Set an alarm to get up in the middle of the night and take your child to the bathroom.

Reward your child when they don’t wet the bed..

Buy a Bed wetting alarm. These really work well.

Bed wetting alarms. These are placed under the child and go off at the first sign off wetness.

Pull-ups can be used for younger children.

Bed wetting, can be divided into two types,  primary enuresis and secondary enuresis. Primary bedwetting is when the child is rarely dry during night and wets the bed at least two times a week for a year. Most of the children with good parental love and guidance  stop beb wetting at an early age. Secondary enuresis is so called when the child start to wet the bed again after a a year of not wetting the bed . Secondary enuresis often continues until the affected child reaches into their teens.  Hereditary traits as one of the causes for primary and secondary enuresis according to some Doctors.

Children who wet the bed should be told the facts about bed wetting. Children often hear myths and untruths about bed wetting from other children. Myths such as “only babies wet the bed” can be hurtful to your child and can make him or her feel that there is something “wrong” with them.

Explaining that Enures or ‘bedwetting” is an actual condition ,and talking about the treatments doctors have for this condition can help your child understand that bedwetting is curable and a rather common problem. With this information  your child can focus on working on the problem rather than worry about the embarrassment they feel.
